As many of us are still suffering from the financial crisis caused by the health situation around the world, there is also still a large group of people that clearly understand how important it is to partake in stress relieving activities. One of these activities being the annual celebration of carnival in Rotterdam and all across the world. This group of carnival loving people (who are not easily intimated) unfortunately had yet another big pill the swallow as we’ve recently received word from the Rotterdam Summer Carnival Foundation that this year’s traditional Rotterdam carnival celebration will not take place as it has been pushed back to 2022 due to too many complications and uncertainties. Even though we belong to the group of "the not easily intimated" people, we understand their decision as we all have to face reality.
It was self-evident that Jizza (born Julien Johnathan Joshua Werleman), better known back in the day as Johnny, was always very fascinated and driven by music – particularly Hip-Hop and Caribbean music. Being from the beautiful and Happy Island of Aruba, Jizza was introduced to Caribbean music at an early age, as he used to tag along with his mother to go to Caribbean parties as a young teenager. His love for Caribbean music was also very much influenced by Claudius Phillips who was managed by his aunt Edwina Werleman and was crowned Calypso- and Roachmarch King on thirteen unique occasions.
