ROTTERDAM - Reggae artist Rass Motivated was chosen as the lucky winner of the Music Matters Award out of twelve competing finalists last Saturday December 10th at the 5th Music Matters Awards at a sold out Theatre Zuidplein in Rotterdam.
The twelve finalists were competing for the title of “Music Ambassador Rotterdam 2012” and an encouragement prize of € 15 000,-. There was also an audience and jury prize awarded second and third. Previous winners were Sabrina Starke, Kevin Ferreira da Silva, Ntjam Ming's Pretty Heroes and Rosie.
The 20-year-old Rass Motivated is no stranger to the Dutch reggae scene. He has already performed in Rotterdam Ahoy, Paradiso, Melkweg and the Heineken Musical Hall as support act for several major reggae and dancehall artists. Meanwhile, he has recorded two music videos. In 2010 he won the Grand Prize of The Netherlands together with Kalibwoy. This year Rass Motivated released his first EP "First Light", containing seven powerful songs about love, confusion and death, which was presented in the Nieuwe Oogst in Rotterdam and was very well received by the public. He sees his ambassadorship as a chance to use his positive lyrics to motivate young people to improve the world.
