Nicki MinajNicky Minaj seems to have crossed yet another line with a new lyric video that she released last Friday on November the 7th. In the video titled “Only” which also features verses by Drake, Lil Wayne and a chorus by Chris Brown the animation seems for many to be Nazi-inspired.

In a post on MySpace the director of the video Jeff Osborne states he’s not apologizing for the video as his intend was too remind younger generations of atrocities that occurred in the past as a way to prevent them from happening in the future. Osborne also notes that he is expressing his own personal views and not the views of Minaj, Drake, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown or Young Money. Strangely enough, the song Osborne chose to express his views on is about whether or not Nicky had sex with Drake or Lil Wayne.

just wrong

Nicki Minaj eventually apologized through Twitter last Tuesday and say’s she takes full responsibility.

The question however remains what this exactly means as earlier this year she also received a lot of criticism over a release cover for her single “Looking Ass Nigga”.

Nicki Malcom X The art, a famous photo of Malcolm X with a rifle in his hands, peering out a window in his home, was received by the media as deeply offensive. The art was unwise. Even the Malcolm X estate itself took issue and Nicki apologized just one day after posting it. However on Hot 97 a few days later, she defended her use of the image, which she viewed as “a parallel” for the way women are attacked in hip-hop culture.

Let's see what happens in terms of taking full responsibility, as Nicki herself upright proclaims. Will she finally give schools a reason to invite her for inspiring their students as the video is to be removed/changed? Or will the Hip-Hop culture suffer yet another blow as it remains accessible to the public as for many yet another offensive, shameless, disrespectful but sadly enough... very effective publicity stunt simply for some record sales.
