This Friday prior to the Summer Carnival Street Parade every year the streets are traditionally dominated by the Battle of Drums. The streets of the inner city of Rotterdam will be shaken by three spectacular brass bands competing for the title of Best Brass Band of the Netherlands and the prestigious Golden Drum! An absolute must see ..

Warming Up

The Battle of Drums always starts with the acclaimed Warming Up. What is Warming Up? Well, you must have seen! Three brass bands starting each from a different location in the city and move while playing and partying to the stage at Hofplein (see map below). With the support of their fans and supporters behind them, they are preparing for the ultimate showdown at the Hofplein stage. The brass bands come one by one to the stage, where a mass audience is eagerly waiting for the spectacular shows that they have in store for them. And really, the Battle of Drums only loose! Each brass band puts a smashing show. This determines who the Best Brass Band of the Netherlands and is immortalized on the Golden Drum!
