Due to some scheduled maintenance and renovation work regarding our radio servers and studio, we regret to inform you that all radio shows will be cancelled until further notice. The radio stream however will remain active with a scheduled downtime of approximately one hour somewhere this week.
For those that want to know, we are adding some extra soundproofing materials for the studio and installing new radio servers for the Awókey Radio stream.

It's a shame how mass media always quick to publish negativity in the news especially about minorities or or non-western countries. Think about the whole ebola coverage or police brutality on blacks and minorities. Therefor we as people must pay better attention to notice any positive news nowadays.
With that said, you guys remember Akon from his many hits including the single "Smack That" featuring Eminem? Well word is out since last year, that Mr. Convict is working on a charity initiative to help bring electricity the households of over 600 million people in Africa.

Dancehall artist Konshens, real name Garfield Spence, was in Amsterdam for a performance at the sold out Jamrock Explosion on 7 November 2015. His high energy show lasted over an hour and was a delight to the fans. Dancehall Explorer met up with the Gyal a Bubble-singer while he was backstage at the last show of his two month European tour by Atlantic Booking.
Double Platinum for Policeman
For quite some time we felt that Konshens' popularity had been growing rapidly in the Netherlands and this was once again confirmed in early September of this year. At that time the hit song "Policeman" with Dutch singer Eva Simons went double platinum showing that mixing dancehall with other genres can be a huge succes. Another song that has been getting heavy rotation in the clubs is Lethal Bizzle's "Fester Skank Remix" featuring Konshens. Click below to watch:
